If you receive your first dose at the Stonebridge Vaccination Center and are due for your second dose after the center closes, you can receive your second dose at one of our care site clinics.

Safe@Inova starts with our team members, and vaccination is the best way to keep ourselves, our patients and our families safe from COVID-19. We encourage everyone to get vaccinated today. If you are unable to get to Inova’s clinic before July 1, there are multiple sites throughout the region.

New Alert for Unvaccinated Patients
Beginning Thursday, June 3, Epic will help providers identify and counsel patients who are hesitant to receive the COVID-19 vaccine. This change will impact all ambulatory visits and involve a new screening (COVID-19 Vaccine Plans) and a BPA for providers if the patient indicates vaccine hesitancy.

While we have made great progress in the fight against COVID-19, we are now in hand-to-hand combat with this virus. We know that large-scale vaccination is the most effective way to reduce the prevalence, strength and virulence of the virus, minimize mutation and ultimately end the pandemic.

A screenshot of the BPA that will pop up in the next encounter is included below. It includes the orders for vaccine, a link to the hesitancy flowsheet (in case the provider wants to enter another value), and the acknowledge reason. The Vaccine Hesitancy flowsheet appears in the Screening tab only when patient do NOT have COVID-19 documented.

Prepare for New Version of Epic | June 10

Inova will be upgrading to a new version of Epic on Thursday, June 10. Targeted groups are receiving communication/tip sheets about upcoming changes, and all training materials are posted on InovaNet on the EpicCare page under Education. The scheduled downtime will take place Thursday, June 10 from 1:30 – 3 a.m. Click here* for more information.

New ‘Vancomycin Therapy Dosed by Pharmacy’ Order

Beginning Thursday, June 3, physicians now have a new ordering workflow for vancomycin dosed by pharmacy. This replaces the current ‘pharmacy to dose medication’ consult order for vancomycin only. Physicians will not need to enter a separate vancomycin order when ordering the vancomycin (VANCOCIN) therapy dosed by pharmacy order. If the physician chooses to take over vancomycin dosing, this can be communicated to the pharmacy by discontinuing therapy dosed by pharmacy. If the patient no longer needs vancomycin, the physician should discontinue the consult order, as well as, subsequent vancomycin doses, labs, etc.

New Policy Management Tool Goes Live June 7

On Monday, June 7, Inova will transition to PolicyStat, a new document management platform for writing, approving and posting Inova policies, procedures and supporting documents. At system go-live, PolicyStat will replace PolicyTech and the current InovaNet portal and will become the one source of truth for all Inova policies and procedures.

Team members will have easy access to search for policies via a Quick Search link, located on InovaNet. Owners, writers, editors and approvers will have full capability available to them to logging onto https://inova.policystat.com.

Until go-live, team members are invited to visit the InovaNet PolicyStat Education Page*, to view “how-to” tutorial videos and to access printable tip sheets.
Save-a-Life Selfie
