Stonebridge Vaccination Center Winds Down Operations

Inova has administered more than 435,000 doses of the COVID-19 vaccine since December 2020. We are proud of our dedicated team of vaccinators and volunteers, and grateful for the opportunity to help protect our friends, families and members of our community as we work together to end the COVID-19 pandemic.

As the COVID-19 vaccine becomes more widely available in our region, Inova is able to wind down our mass vaccination efforts and shift our focus to getting patients back to routine care.

Community Members:
  • June 1 is the last day to receive a first dose of the Pfizer vaccine at Inova’s Stonebridge Vaccination Center.
  • Inova will continue administering second doses until July 1.
  • The Stonebridge Vaccination Center will permanently close July 1 at 3:30 p.m.
  • Patients seeking the vaccine can schedule an appointment at their primary care office, or at another convenient location. Click here for clinics in your area.
  • Vaccination is the best tool we have to protect yourself and others from COVID-19.
  • Reminder: the Stonebridge Vaccination Center is closed Friday, May 28 – Monday, May 31 for the Memorial Day holiday.

Safe@Inova starts with our team members, and vaccination is the best way to keep ourselves, our patients and our families safe from COVID-19. We encourage everyone to get vaccinated today. If you are unable to get to Inova’s clinic before June 1, there are multiple sites throughout the region.
Reporting Reactions in the Vaccine Adverse Event Reporting System (VAERS)

If you are treating a patient who has potential adverse reactions to the COVID-19 vaccination, please report the incident online in the government’s Vaccine Adverse Event Reporting System (VAERS). Anyone can submit a report to VAERS, including parents and patients. In addition, any suspected reaction to a vaccine can be entered in Safety Always. This system is monitored daily and suspected adverse reactions are entered into VAERS. Non-employed medical staff (or team members who do not have an Inova email address) can enter an event in Safety Always as well.

Healthcare providers are required by law to report to VAERS:

Healthcare providers are
strongly encouraged to report to VAERS:
  • Any adverse event that occurs after the administration of a vaccine licensed in the United States, whether it is or is not clear that a vaccine caused the adverse event in either adults or children
  • Vaccine administration errors

Note that no specific test or treatment data is required to report a reaction. There are two ways to report: Online (strongly encouraged) or using a writable PDF (download here). The VAERS accepts all reports, including reports of vaccination errors. Guidance on reporting vaccination errors is available via this link. For more information within Inova, please contact Melanie Massiah-White, Vice President of Pharmacy Services, via email. If you need further assistance with reporting to VAERS, please email info@VAERS.org or call 1-800-822-7967

Save-a-Life Selfie

Inova team members from across the system are stepping up to help our community by donating blood. Just one hour of your time can save up to three lives. Make an appointment to donate blood today and share a photo of yourself giving blood with tracy.connell@inova.org for inclusion in the weekly huddle.

Thank you, Angela Mast, Operations and Translation Manager, Language and Disability Services, who celebrated Mother's Day with her husband and son by giving the gift of life as a family.

If you’re eligible to give blood, we encourage you to take the time now to schedule your appointment, as community blood supply is still critically low.

Inova Gives Back Update | Help Us Reach Our Goal!

As we near the end of this year’s Inova Gives Back campaign, we are so proud of our team for contributing more than $131,000 from more than 340 donors – 200 of whom are giving via payroll deductions. Thank You! Your ongoing support makes a difference, and there’s still time for you to help us reach our $150,000 goal for the Team Member Compassion Fund.

Phase 2:  Safe@Inova Campaign – Get Back to Routine Care

This week, Inova Health System announced the launch of the second phase of its Safe@Inova campaign, which encourages patients to not delay seeking medical care and raises awareness about the importance of keeping up with routine healthcare needs and screenings. During the pandemic, Inova saw a significant decline in patients for both emergency and routine medical care. As a result of delayed emergency care and postponement of routine screenings, Inova began to see higher acuity cases across all care sites. The campaign empowers patients and members of the community to access the care they need right now in a safe and reliable environment.
