Michael J. Fox Foundation's Washington D.C. Run/Walk - June 6

We had a lovely morning at the Michael J. Fox Foundation's run/walk in Arlington yesterday! Our Dance for PD partner, Lucy, kicked off the walk by getting everyone warmed up and moving, with help from Sandy and Steve.

IPMDC participated in the community expo and we were joined by IPMDC Program Partners, Dance for PD, and AIM Human Performance (also representing the Virginia chapter of Pass to Pass).

Special shout-outs to three teams from our northern Virginia community for their fundraising efforts! The Hess Express, Sandy's Shufflers, and Sunrise Senior Living DMV.

Save the date for October 24!

Many people talk to me about their healthy schedules with back-to-back programming, hobbies, and fun activities. But sometimes the brain needs a difference in routine to really keep healthy and grow stronger. Other times change is more stressful for the brain. How much change is good for the brain, and how can we slowly implement a change in routine in a safe and manageable way to support our brain health?

Getting older isn't easy. There are aches and pains, spotty memory sometimes, people that treat us like children, and more. Many of us imagine walking into the sunset with our partner, but that doesn't always go according to plan. Aging with someone else has it's benefits and concerns, solo aging has others. Most of us will, at sometime, be aging alone. This can be by choice, the need for someone to live in a care community, divorce, or death of our partner. We are going to talk about what you need to think about now and when preparing to solo age.
