Here we are almost at the end of April and Parkinson's Awareness Month! These past weeks have just flown by. |
|
|
Many, many thanks to everyone who made a donation in support of IPMDC programs. We are so grateful for your support and your encouragement to continue to provide a variety of programs to meet the needs of our Parkinson community. We're planning our fall conference for patients, families, and friends, so save the date for Saturday, October 11!
A new program that we're offering in June is a five-week program for care partners called Caring For You, Caring for Me. It's in partnership with ElderLink and you'll find details below and at ipmdc.org/carepartner. |

Hosted by: Insight - Sterling
45945 Center Oak Plaza, Suite 190, Sterling |
|
|
Come have fun and learn all about improv and the power of "Yes And..."
The spontaneous and playful nature of improv stimulates creativity, memory recall, and verbal expression, helping to keep the brain engaged. Because improv focuses on the present moment rather than past experiences, it allows individuals to participate without fear of making mistakes, boosting confidence and reducing frustration. No experience needed!
This new program is in partnership with Resonance Improv Alliance and Insight Sterling.

Caring for You, Caring for Me
Fridays from 10:30 am - 12:30 pm
Beginning June 6 for 5 weeks - 6/6, 6/13, 6/20, 6/27, and 7/11 (not on 7/4)
In-person at:
Inova Conference Center
8100 Innovation Park Dr., Fairfax, VA 22031
Caring for You, Caring for Me (CFYCFM) provides education and support to caregivers through a series of flexible learning modules, helping caregivers take better care of themselves, collaborate effectively with professional caregivers, and be the best advocate possible for their care recipient.
This five-part, interactive training course has been designed to help family caregivers develop skills that most benefit them, including building relationships with professional caregivers to increase cooperation, understanding and support. CFYCFM provides opportunities for learning ways to cope with the stressors of being a caregiver, accessing resources, discovering ways to work together with others to reduce frustrations and barriers in the caregiver role, sharing common concerns, and recognizing that caregivers are not alone.
This event is a partnership with Elderlink – Fairfax Area Agency on Aging.
CFYCFM is a free signature program of the Rosalynn Carter Institute for Caregiving.
Seats are limited, as this is a small group workshop.
Please make a commitment to attend all 5 sessions to make the most of this series.
To register, please contact sonia.gow@inova.org, but if you find that you’re unable to attend, could you please let us know? We look forward to seeing you on June 6th! |
