How Do I Assess and Report Issues with Swallowing?


Join speech-language pathologist John Dean and Physiotherapist Josefa Domingos for a practical, plain-language guide to swallowing assessment about how swallowing changes occur in Parkinson's, what symptoms are worth paying attention to, how SLPs and other clinicians evaluate it, and how to let your healthcare team know what you're experiencing.

This hike is a great opportunity for an easy stroll among the flowers. Arrive early to view the Visitor’s Center and sit on the deck. Or make an evening of it and book dinner reservations after the hike in nearby Great Falls, McLean, or D.C.

Before the crowds and heat arrive, we're taking a trip to Shenandoah National Park. This will be our first group hike in the national park.


This hike is rated moderate; 3.5 miles and 800+ feet of elevation. It begins near Skyland Resort so overnight accommodations, restrooms, and a restaurant are available. This hike is known for its panoramic, expansive views! It’s often said these are the best views in the park!
